Le schéma structurel repose sur quatre montants en laiton massif profilés de fines cannelures. Ces fûts se terminent à la base par des pieds fuselés et sont couronnés au sommet par des amortissements en forme de pommes de pin. La rigidité de l'ensemble est assurée sur les faces latérales et arrière par des entretoises en croisillons (en 'X'), solidarisées en leur centre par de petites rosaces. Le meuble déploie trois plateaux rectangulaires accueillant des plaques de verre églomisé. Celles-ci présentent un riche motif jaspé dans les tons bruns et ocre, imitant avec une grande finesse l'écaille de tortue ou la loupe de bois précieux. L'association de la structure néoclassique en laiton (croisillons, cannelures) et du verre églomisé permet d'attribuer formellement cette pièce à la Maison Jansen. Fondée à Paris en 1880, la Maison Jansen demeure pendant près d'un siècle la référence absolue de la décoration d'intérieur d'envergure internationale. Sous la direction de Stéphane Boudin, la maison se spécialise dans la réinterprétation des styles Directoire et Empire, concevant un 'mobilier volant' (petites tables, étagères, dessertes) très raffiné pour une clientèle prestigieuse, incluant les ambassades et la haute aristocratie.
