Pour pallier le coût exorbitant des importations de porcelaine d'Extrême-Orient, les artisans italiens découpaient de fines gravures sur papier, les appliquaient méticuleusement à l'envers à l'intérieur d'un vase en verre, avant de recouvrir l'ensemble d'une couche de peinture blanche. L'illusion d'une porcelaine asiatique peinte à la main était ainsi parfaite, créant des objets au charme singulier, aujourd'hui devenus des raretés muséales. Avec leurs 29,5 cm de hauteur pour un panse généreuse de 22 cm de diamètre, ces vases adoptent une élégante forme balustre à long col évasé. Le décor, profondément ancré dans le goût pour l'exotisme de l'époque Louis XV, foisonne de motifs dits 'aux Chinoiseries'. On y découvre une galerie de personnages orientaux fascinants — guerriers en armure tenant un arc, dignitaires lettrés et jeunes femmes en robes fluides — évoluant au milieu d'un semis de pivoines, de branchages fleuris et de papillons délicats. Des frises de lambrequins stylisés viennent souligner les cols. Proposée dans son état de découverte, cette paire de plus de deux cent cinquante ans présente des usures d'usage et des lacunes de la couche picturale à l'intérieur du verre (plus prononcées sur le col d'un des vases).
