Silver-Plated Three-Tier Oval Bar Cart, Attributed to Maison Jansen, 1940s

This three-tier rolling table is highly representative of mid-20th-century Parisian high-end serving furniture. The architecture of the piece rests on four silver-plated metal uprights detailed with fine fluting, terminating at the base in their original directional casters and crowned at the top with turned finials. The piece features three oval clear glass tiers, strictly enclosed by pierced silver-plated galleries. The top tier is flanked by two lateral handles. The lower tier is distinguished by the integration of a bottle-holder structure consisting of six welded rings, combining functionality with aesthetic demand. The neoclassical rigor of the assembly (fluting, pierced galleries) and the excellence of the craftsmanship allow this piece of furniture to be attributed to Maison Jansen. Founded in Paris in 1880, Maison Jansen remained the absolute benchmark for international interior decoration for nearly a century. Under the direction of Stéphane Boudin, the house specialized in reinterpreting Directoire and Empire styles, designing 'mobilier volant' (occasional furniture, bar carts, serving tables) for a prestigious clientele, including embassies and high aristocracy. While Jansen is renowned for its use of brass, the silver-plated variation constitutes a highly sought-after luxurious alternative, typical of Hollywood Regency inspired interiors. The serving cart is in very good overall condition. The silver-plated metal displays a slight, even patina of use and discreet natural traces of oxidation, guaranteeing its authenticity. The three glass plates are intact, and the casters are fully functional. A centerpiece, ideal for serving as a chic bar cart or serving trolley in an elegant reception room.
