Round Three-Tier Brass Bar Cart, Attributed to Maison Jansen, 1940s
This circular serving furniture is a three-tier rolling table, highly representative of mid-20th-century Parisian high-end metalwork. The architectural structure, made entirely of solid brass, revolves around slender tubular uprights. These shafts terminate in directional casters at the base and are crowned with turned finials at the top. Three clear glass tiers fit into circular frames, enclosed by rigorous pierced brass galleries featuring a vertical bar motif, ensuring objects remain secure during movement. The combination of the geometric rigor of the pierced galleries, the balance of proportions, and the nobility of polished brass allows this serving cart to be formally attributed to Maison Jansen. Founded in Paris in 1880, Maison Jansen remained the international benchmark for high-end interior decoration for nearly a century. Under the direction of Stéphane Boudin in the mid-20th century, the house excelled in reinterpreting Directoire and Empire styles. Good overall condition with natural oxidation and even patina of use. With its contained diameter of 45.5 cm, this bar cart with highly vertical proportions will elegantly anchor the space of a classic or contemporary living room.
