We chase the twentieth century
Modern Eye Gallery is devoted to one thing: the design of the 20th century. The gleam of brass and bronze, sculptural lighting, lacquered wood and eglomized mirror, the sinuous lines of French and Italian craftsmanship — the pieces that gave a whole era its character. We are drawn to objects with presence: furniture and decorative art that still carry the mark of the hand that made them.
We are hunters
Our collection is found by eye, one piece at a time, across Europe. From Paris flea markets at first light to quiet countryside estate sales, from dealers we have known for years to a lucky turn down the wrong aisle — we travel, we search, and we wait. The pieces we bring back are rarely easy to find, and never ordinary.
We are curators
For us this is far more than commerce. Every piece is researched, authenticated, and carefully restored before it reaches you. We photograph it, we document it, we learn the story of its maker and its moment. What you find in the gallery is a considered selection — a point of view — not a warehouse.
We believe every object has a soul
A lamp in the taste of Jacques Adnet, a brass gueridon attributed to Maison Bagues, a pair of Willy Rizzo nightstands in burl walnut — each one carries a history and a vision. Our work is to let that story continue in a new home, and to help collectors, designers and architects give these pieces pride of place in interiors of today.
We deal only in the original
No reproductions. Ever. Only authentic pieces of their period, chosen for their quality, their character, and the way they command a room.
