Gilt Metal Chandelier with Foliage Decoration and Pink Crystal Drops, Italian Work, Circa 1950

This chandelier is organised around a tall central stem dressed with oak leaves in gilt tole curling in a spiral, from which escape three sinuous light arms with bobèches in the form of open flowers. Faceted pink crystal drops are suspended over the entire height, from the topmost branches to the arms, diffusing soft and iridescent reflections. The ceiling cap in a gilt gadrooned shell crowns the whole.

This Italian work of the 1950s belongs to the tradition of Florentine gilt iron enhanced with coloured crystal drops, in the spirit of the refined productions that then dressed the palaces and fine residences of the Riviera.

Condition report: Good overall condition. Gilding with a warm patina, pink drops in fine apparent condition. Electricity checked by an electrician. A romantic light fixture, ideal in a bedroom, a boudoir or an elegant dressing room.
