DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
The front aligns a series of vertical palms in hammered iron with a delicately stippled surface, threaded onto a tubular gilt brass crossbar that brings a luminous counterpoint to the dark mass of the iron. On either side, two curved uprights finish in crook scrolls, framing the inclined log basket with crossed bars that holds the logs.
This ironwork of the 1950s, with its careful hammering and the iron-and-brass marriage characteristic of the period, attests to the care then given to fireplace objects, conceived as genuine decorative as well as functional pieces.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Hammered iron with a nuanced patina of the finest effect, brass with a soft gilded patina, traces of use normal for a hearth object. A piece that dresses the fireplace all year round, in service as at rest.
