DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
Each side table presents a rectangular mahogany top with a moulded edge, carried by an elegant X-shaped base: two pairs of sabre legs crossed in the manner of curule seats, joined by a turned stretcher and ending in tapered pads. The warm reddish tonality of the mahogany highlights the purity of the silhouette.
This curule base, inherited from Antiquity and revived under the Directoire and the Empire, was taken up with felicity by French decorators of the 1940s, who loved these purified Neoclassical lines in carefully varnished dark woods.
Condition report: Good general condition. Mahogany with a warm patina presenting some marks and lightening of use on the tops, sound and stable structure. An elegant and functional pair, framing a sofa or as small occasional tables on either side of a bed.
