DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT

The base is formed of a bundle of rattan and bamboo stems gathered at mid-height by a twisted tie evoking the cord of a sheaf, the stems flaring out into a corolla both upward and downward to ensure a stable footing. The whole is enhanced by a warm gilded tone with a nuanced patina. A circular clear glass top with a polished edge crowns the composition, leaving the full reading of the sculptural base on view. This iconic wheat-sheaf model is emblematic of the creations of Elinor McGuire, co-founder of the McGuire firm in San Francisco, whose hand-tied rattan and bamboo furniture defined an organic elegance much prized by decorators since the 1970s. It naturally converses with the neoclassical taste and with bohemian-chic interiors. Condition report: Good overall condition. Fine even gilded patina to the rattan; the glass top may show likely minor surface scratches inherent to use. A sculptural coffee table that warms a contemporary living room just as readily as a refined country interior.
