Large Wall Coat Rack in Aluminium with Ten Hooks and Luggage Rack Gallery, in the Spirit of Train Carriages, Circa 1950

This large wall coat rack presents a tubular structure in aluminium: a horizontal bar receives ten T-shaped hooks evenly spaced, while an upper gallery with two rails, slightly overhanging, forms a luggage or hat rack shelf. The whole is fixed to the wall by pierced plates, in two paired sections. This type of aluminium luggage rack equipped the compartments of mid-twentieth-century railway carriages; its functionalist line, its lightness and its patinated metal today make it a much sought-after decorative element, in the spirit of the industrial and travel objects of the 1950s. Condition report: Good general condition. Aluminium with even grey patina, light traces of use and micro-scratches inherent to its original function. A coat rack as practical as it is decorative, perfect in an entrance, a cloakroom or a child's bedroom with a travel spirit.
