DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
The bench rests on two curule bases in black lacquered metal, with elegantly cambered legs ending in small gilt brass feet, joined by a long twisted crossbar. The uprights are surmounted by brass baluster finials that frame the seat. The cushion upholstered in patinated pink velvet, underlined by a skirt with twisted gold and red fringes, brings a precious and muffled note.
The curule form, inherited from the seats of Roman magistrates, belongs to the Neoclassical repertoire of Maison Jansen, the great Parisian decorating house founded in 1880, supplier to royal courts, which declined numerous variants of it in patinated and gilt metal in the 1940s.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Sound structure, black lacquer and brass with an even patina; the pink velvet presents discoloration and marks of use over time, upholstery to be reupholstered according to taste. A bench full of charm, at the foot of a bed or under a window.
