DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This five-light candelabrum features a tapering quadrangular brass shaft, adorned in its lower part with engraved friezes of beaded chevrons, rising from a square base with moulded steps. Four horizontal arms, connected to the shaft by spandrels pierced with circles of decreasing size, carry cylindrical candle nozzles with stamped lambrequin decoration on wide circular dishes; a fifth light crowns the shaft.
This geometric vocabulary — circular openwork, chevrons, architectural structure — is characteristic of the Jugendstil, the Germanic secession of the early 20th century, and recalls the taste of the WMF manufactory (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), a great editor of art metalwork of the period, whose pieces combined industrial production and avant-garde design.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Brass with a uniform patina, engraved and stamped decoration clearly legible, sound structure. An architectural candelabrum, superb as a table centrepiece or on a mantelpiece, that dialogues equally well with a 1900s or a contemporary interior.
