DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT

This umbrella stand is composed of a cylindrical receptacle in deep, glossy British green lacquered metal, set upon a flared tulip base in brown-patinated cast iron. A central rod passes through the whole and ends at the top in a grip ring that allows the object to be moved with a single gesture. The silhouette, at once functional and graphic, evokes a stylised chalice.

The tulip base, popularised by the design of the 1950s–1960s, is here applied with wit to an entrance-hall object, attesting to the spread of the modernist vocabulary even into everyday accessories.

Condition report: Good overall condition. Glossy and even green lacquer, evenly patinated cast iron, with possible small marks of use proper to its function. An entrance-hall accessory both practical and full of character.
