DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This bowl depicts a stylised bird — duck or swan — whose hollow body forms the receptacle of the trinket bowl. The long neck rises in a curve full of grace, ending in a round head with a slightly open tapered beak, while the tail unfolds in a gadrooned fan. The whole rests on two small gadrooned webbed feet, which ground the silhouette with wit.
This type of zoomorphic object in polished brass, halfway between decorative sculpture and object of use, is characteristic of the taste of the 1970s, which brought gilt brass and stylised animal figures back to honour in interior decoration.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Brass with a warm gilded patina showing a few marks of use and a light oxidation that add to its charm. A trinket bowl full of wit for an entrance hall, a desk or a coffee table.
