Pair of Palm Tree Brass and Black Lacquered Brass Neoclassical Style Table Lamps in the style of Maison Charles

This pair of table lamps takes the form of a palm tree, rendered in brass and black lacquered brass. French work in the style of Maison Charles, circa 1970. Each lamp measures 35 cm wide, 35 cm deep and 74.5 cm high. The palm tree, an exotic motif taken up by neoclassicism, enjoyed great popularity in the decorative arts; Maison Charles, the Parisian lighting house, made stylised plant motifs one of its signatures. The contrast between the golden brass and the black lacquer emphasises the lamps' silhouette. Offered as a pair, they lend themselves to a symmetrical arrangement on a console table, on either side of a sofa or on bedside tables.
