DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT

This imposing table lamp, attributed to the celebrated Parisian house of Cristal & Bronze, presents a body of deep red crystal of striking luminosity set within an armature of richly chiseled bronze. The warm crimson of the crystal, likely hand-blown or pressed in the traditions of French glassmaking, creates an exceptionally theatrical illumination when lit, casting rich amber and ruby tones across the surrounding space. The chiseled bronze mounts, worked with the precision characteristic of the finest Parisian ateliers of the interwar period, frame and support the crystal elements with structural confidence and decorative authority.

Cristal & Bronze Paris was among the most distinguished manufacturers of luxury lighting in France during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Founded to meet the growing demand for elaborate interior illumination in the grand hotels, ocean liners and aristocratic residences of the Belle Époque, the house developed a language of sumptuous opulence rooted in the union of hand-cut crystal with finely worked bronze armatures. Their productions were synonymous with technical mastery and material excellence, earning commissions for some of the most celebrated interiors of their day. By the Art Déco period, the firm had adapted its vocabulary to the new geometries of the style, retaining its commitment to luxury materials while embracing the bolder forms of the modernist moment.

In handsome original condition, the lamp retains its deep red crystal body and bronze mounts with their characteristic surface working largely intact. Its generous scale — 76 centimetres in height and 55 centimetres in footprint — gives it the presence of a significant decorative object, equally suited to a library, a salon or a hall of distinction. A compelling example of the Parisian luxury decorative arts tradition at its most opulent, and a piece of considerable appeal to the serious collector of Art Déco lighting.
