This elegant lamp, composed of gilt metal and foxed mirror glass panels, is executed in the distinctive vocabulary associated with the celebrated Italian designer Aldo Tura. Aldo Tura (Milan, 1909–1963) was one of the most original and influential decorative designers of twentieth-century Italy, celebrated above all for his mastery of a technique he made uniquely his own: the application of lacquered goatskin (parchment) to furniture frames and decorative objects. Working from his Milanese atelier from the 1930s through the post-war decades, Tura developed an œuvre of tables, consoles, lamps and accessories in which richly lacquered parchment — in reds, yellows, greens and blues — combined with gilt or polished brass structures of elegant simplicity. His work, exhibited internationally and acquired by distinguished collectors worldwide, established him as one of the defining figures of Italian luxury design in the mid-twentieth century. Objects produced “in the style of” or “in the taste of” Tura attest to the enduring influence of his vocabulary, which continued to inspire designers long after his death.

In good overall condition, the lamp retains its gilt metal structure and foxed glass panels with the atmospheric patina that forms an inherent and valued part of the aesthetic.
