Round Brass Drinks Trolley by Maison Bagués

A round neoclassical style drinks trolley in brass by Maison Baguès. It is composed of two superimposed trays, both removable, mounted on a brass frame. The circular plan and the restraint of its lines belong to the neoclassical vocabulary, while the brass lends the whole a warm, luminous tone. French work, circa 1940.

A Parisian house known for its art bronzes, metal furniture and lighting, Maison Baguès belongs to the tradition of the great decorating workshops of the inter-war years. A service piece much favoured in interiors of the period, the drinks trolley allows glasses and decanters to be moved from room to room; its removable trays can be lifted away and carried separately for serving. Today it sits naturally in a living room or dining room, as an occasional bar or serving table.
