Three-Tier Stand in Silvered Metal with Openwork Galleries and Castors, in the Style of Maison Baguès, Circa 1960

This stand features a quadrangular structure in silvered metal with fluted uprights, surmounted by pinecone finials. Three tiers of smoked glass, set in moulded frames and bordered by openwork galleries with lattice motifs, punctuate the height. The whole rests on original castors that ease its movement.

The ornamental vocabulary - openwork galleries, pinecones, fluted shafts - allows this piece to be stylistically linked to the productions of Maison Baguès, the Parisian reference in occasional furniture in gilt or silvered metal since the 19th century, whose neoclassical taste charmed the greatest decorators. The silvered finish, rarer than gilt brass, lends it a particular elegance.

Condition report: Good overall condition. Silvered metal with a soft and even patina, the smoked glass possibly showing probable surface micro-scratches inherent to use, functional castors. A practical and refined occasional piece, as an auxiliary stand in the sitting room or as a bedside table in a bedroom.
