DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT

This low chair features uprights in solid stained wood, vigorously turned and rhythmed with rings, surmounted by characteristic solid balls. The back is organised around a curved band, the square seat is fitted with a radiating rush weave in points, and the squat base, punctuated with rings, is stiffened by double stretchers at the front and on the sides.

The assertive turning, the ball finials and the combination of dark wood and blond rush link this model to Charles Dudouyt, a figure of French furniture of the 1940s whose modernised rustic creations appeal today to collectors and decorators. The model is attributed to him.

Condition report: Good overall condition. Sound wood with a warm patina, rushwork in good condition from use. A low chair full of character, in a fireside corner, in a child's bedroom or as a sculptural occasional seat.
