DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This pedestal table features a circular top of fossilised black marble, whose pale inclusions animate the dark surface, set within a brass rim. Three tapering uprights in gilt bronze, entirely gilt-tooled with ribboned foliage, are joined beneath the top by curved stretchers describing an openwork basket, and end in slightly flared feet.
This foliate chasing of great finesse is one of the signatures of Maison Baguès, the great Parisian house of art bronze founded in the 19th century, the absolute reference in chased gilt bronze whose pedestal tables of the 1940s are among the most refined pieces.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Sound fossilised marble with a beautiful polish, gilt bronze with an even patina, crisp chasing. A precious pedestal table, perfect as a side table or as a stand beside an armchair.
