Large Pair of Wrought Iron Wall Lights with Coat of Arms and 3 Light Arms in the Gothic Style

Each wall light in this large pair is made of wrought iron and has three light arms arranged around a coat of arms at its centre. The pair belongs to the Gothic style, inspired by medieval architecture and decorative arts. French work, circa 1940. Each wall light measures 29.5 cm wide, 14 cm deep and 47.5 cm high. The coat of arms, the heraldic emblem par excellence, reinforces the reference to the Middle Ages and gives the lights an almost architectural character. The Gothic Revival taste, widespread since the nineteenth century, prompted an abundant production of wrought iron lighting for entrance halls, staircases and large rooms. With their three arms, these wall lights provide generous lighting and suit a symmetrical arrangement around a fireplace or a doorway.
