DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This large pair of Louis XVI style wall sconces is made of carved and gilded wood and decorated with crystal garlands. French work, circa 1940. Each sconce measures 20.5 cm wide, 15.5 cm deep and 67 cm high, slender proportions that give them a fine presence on the wall. Carved giltwood, a traditional technique of the French decorative arts, brings a warmth that metal does not, while the crystal garlands catch and scatter the light. The Louis XVI style, the neoclassicism of the late eighteenth century, made the garland one of its favourite motifs. Offered as a pair, these sconces suit a symmetrical arrangement around a fireplace, a mirror or a console table.
