DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This pair of Louis XVI style bronze wall sconces is decorated with a quiver, a motif borrowed from the antique repertoire. French work, circa 1960. Each sconce measures 24.5 cm wide, 10.5 cm deep and 27.5 cm high. The Louis XVI style, the French neoclassicism of the late eighteenth century, favours symmetry, restraint and references to antiquity; bronze makers continued to revisit it throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly for lighting. The quiver, attribute of Cupid, is among the most frequent ornaments in this repertoire. Offered as a pair, these modestly sized sconces suit a symmetrical arrangement on either side of a bed, a mirror or a console table, in a classical or contemporary interior.
