DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
Each sconce is organised around a richly chased vertical stem: a winged cherub bust is set within a medallion of granulated foliage, surmounted by a copper thyrsus with delicate scrolls whose rosy tone contrasts with the gold of the brass, the whole ending in a tied ribbon drop. Two curved light arms project from it, ending in moulded cups and nozzles fitted with faux candles.
The cherub motif, the thyrsus and the tied ribbons belong to the Neoclassical repertoire inherited from the Louis XVI style, here interpreted with virtuosity by French bronze-makers of the 1950s, the two-tone interplay of brass and copper adding further refinement to the chasing.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Brass and copper with a fine patina, crisp and detailed chasing, old faux candles. Electricity checked by an electrician. A delicate pair to frame a mirror, a fireplace or a romantic headboard.
