DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
Each sconce is organised around a stem in the form of a fluted vase surmounted by a mobile ring, a classic motif of light arms. Three arms with chased scrolls and foliage escape from it, receiving wide flared bobèches in a gadrooned cup. The lower part, adorned with chased motifs, ends in a seed finial. The casting is dense and the chasing careful.
This Neoclassical repertoire — fluted vase, ring, gadroons — is characteristic of French lighting bronze of the 1940s, in the spirit of the great Parisian houses which then perpetuated the taste of the 18th century with high-quality execution.
Condition report: Good overall condition. The gilding of the bronze showing an even patina of use and a slight natural surface oxidation. Electricity checked by an electrician. A pair of fine presence to flank a fireplace, a mirror or an entrance console.
