DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This floor lamp presents a baluster shaft in turned and carved wood, punctuated with swellings and rings, decorated with two crowns of fruit in high relief — clusters of grapes, apples, pears and foliage — treated in polychromy. The cream patina, deliberately worn, lets orange and green heightenings show through, the gadrooned funnel top receiving the wiring. The whole rests on a matching moulded square base.
This vocabulary of fruited balusters and patinated polychromy is characteristic of the Italian production of the 1950s, heir to the Baroque tradition of Venetian and Tuscan carved woods, brought up to date in a rustic and refined decorative spirit.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Original polychromy with an assumed decorative wear, small losses and scattered rubbing inherent to age. Wiring to be checked before use. A floor lamp of character, to be crowned with a generous shade for a sitting room or a charming bedroom.
