DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
A gilt resin sunburst mirror, French work made circa 1970. The central glass is surrounded by gilt rays radiating outward, in the classic sunburst arrangement. Resin, a moulded material, makes it possible to achieve the effect of gilded decoration while remaining light, and gives the piece a warm glow that enlivens the wall on which it hangs.
The sunburst mirror, whose motif recalls the radiant emblem associated with Louis XIV, returned to favour in the mid-twentieth century, particularly in France, where it was produced in many different materials. The 1970s readily interpreted it in resin, both decorative and accessible. Of modest size, this mirror fits easily above a console, in an entrance hall, or within a wall arrangement of several mirrors.
