Pineapple Chandelier in Cut Glass and Gilt Brass with Six Lights, Crystal Pendants, Neoclassical, French Work, circa 1960

This chandelier is organised around a central shaft adorned with a moulded and cut glass pineapple with diamond points, surmounted by two foliate crowns hung with pear-shaped pendants. Six long sinuous brass arms descend in a cascade before rising again towards the faux-candle lights, each highlighted with a collar of cut leaves and faceted crystal pears. The chain and the brass canopy complete the whole.

The pineapple motif, a symbol of hospitality dear to the Neoclassical repertoire, enjoyed great popularity in the lighting of the 1960s, notably among the Parisian houses of the Faubourg Saint-Honore district, whose brass and crystal productions are sought-after today.

Condition report: Good general condition. Brass with an even gilt patina, glass pineapple and pendants in fine condition, possible minute losses. Electricity checked by an electrician. A charming chandelier for an entrance hall, a bedroom or a dining room.
