DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT

This mirror features an oval frame composed of several courses of wicker woven in tight undulations, from which radiate all around short bamboo stems with exposed nodes, arranged in a crown of regular rays. The oval mirror plate, set at the centre, is set off by the depth of the frame and the contrast between the supple weaving and the graphic rigidity of the rays. This natural interpretation of the sunburst mirror — a leading motif of 1950s-1960s decoration — is characteristic of Riviera work, where the coastal basketry workshops translated the great classics of decor into rattan, wicker and bamboo, for the villas and hotels of the Mediterranean coast. Condition report: Good overall condition. Sound and complete basketry with an even blond patina, clean mirror plate which may show probable micro-foxing linked to age. A solar and warm mirror, alone or in a wall composition, in an entrance hall or a bedroom.
