Mirror with Bronze Enamelled Ceramic Frame with Red Lozenge Cabochons, in the Style of Mithé Espelt, 1960s

The rectangular ceramic frame, with deliberately slightly irregular edges, presents an iridescent enamel with speckled effects evoking patinated bronze. Eight lozenge cabochons enamelled in bright carmine red punctuate the border at regular intervals, creating a precious contrast with the matte ground. The rectangular mirror is set in the centre. This enamelled ceramic work with cabochons, halfway between an object of art and a wall jewel, allows a stylistic attachment to the work of Mithé Espelt, a French ceramist whose enamelled and gilded mirrors of the 1950s-1960s are today enjoying a strong revival of interest. Condition report: Good overall condition. Fresh and bright enamels, with no visible chips, mirror plate in fine condition. A small precious mirror, to hang alone in an entrance or to integrate into a wall of artists' mirrors.
