DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This bowl was turned from the mass of a trunk whose natural bark, rough and deep brown, is preserved around the entire outer rim, while the interior reveals a smooth, polished wood in nuanced blond tones. The contrast between the raw wall and the silky polish of the hollow makes all the strength of the object, set on a gently rounded base.
This dialogue between raw nature and the artisan's gesture belongs to the 1960s movement that rehabilitated organic materials and "live edge" objects, parallel to Scandinavian research and the woodwork of George Nakashima across the Atlantic. Each piece, dictated by the tree, is unique.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Sound wood, well-adhering bark, interior lustrous from use, minute superficial marks. A sculptural bowl as a catch-all, a centrepiece, or simply an object of contemplation.
