DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
This console features a canted top in deep black lacquer, underlined by a brass edge, above an apron opening with two drawers with rectangular brass escutcheons. The corner uprights, faceted and clad in brass alternating with the lacquer, descend to a lower black-lacquered tier ringed in brass that closes the composition at the bottom and serves as a shelf.
This rigorous dialogue between mirror-black lacquer and gilt brass is the signature of Jean-Claude Mahey, the French creator of the 1970s whose lacquered furniture — consoles, sideboards, coffee tables — embodies the Parisian chic of the decade, between Art Deco heritage and seventies glamour.
Condition report: Good general condition. Black lacquer of beautiful depth showing possible fine surface scratches inherent to use, brass with an even gilt patina. Drawers functional. A graphic and refined console, ideal in an entrance or behind a sofa.
