DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT

This console presents a rectangular clear glass top set within a gilt brass frame with sleeved corners, treated with geometric cut-outs that enclose the uprights. The latter, in double Plexiglas slabs doubled with brass profiles, descend into staggered legs ending in gilt sabots, the whole playing constantly on the transparency and the brilliance of the metal.

This luxurious treatment combining Plexiglas, brass and glass is emblematic of Romeo Rega (1925–1984), the Roman designer of the 1970s whose consoles and tables have become classics of "glamour" Italian design, alongside the productions of Willy Rizzo and Gabriella Crespi. The attribution is retained here on the basis of this characteristic vocabulary.

Condition report: Good overall condition. Translucent Plexiglas likely to show fine surface scratches, brass with a fine gilt patina, glass in fine condition. A luminous and refined console, perfect in an entrance hall or behind a sofa.
