DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT
The stool features a curved cradle-shaped seat, cut from solid wood with a scalloped edge carved with a gouge, pierced with two oval grips at the ends. The centre of the seat receives a cowhide stretched and fixed by a row of round-headed nails. The legs, composed of inclined supports entirely punctuated with carved hollows, are stretchered by a pegged through-bar, in a visible rustic assembly.
This vocabulary — solid wood worked with the tool, visible nails, natural hide — connects this seat to the Spanish brutalist production of the 1950s, heir to the Iberian vernacular traditions that modern taste brought back into favour. These pieces of assertive character today appeal to interiors mixing design and raw materials.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Wood with a warm, nourished patina, original hide well preserved with superficial wear of the hair in places, slightly oxidized nailing. A small sculptural seat, perfect beside a sofa, as an occasional bedside table, or as a footrest of character.
